What is Breathwork? Exploring Techniques, Benefits, and Healing Practices

What is breathwork?

“Breathwork” is an umbrella term for various types of breathing practices. You might of heard about  “Transformational Breathwork”, “Clarity Breathwork”, or “Shamanic Breathwork”; it has many different names and slight variations in technique. It is basically a modernized form of Pranayama (coming from the yogic trandtion), a practice with a long history in India.

The Practice of Breathwork

The breathwork that Maja teaches is called concious connected breathwork. This is done lying down on your back in a comfortable position with music playing to help motivate, relax and release anything that’s stuck. Maja is there to guide you through the experience and support the process. It can be powerful, it can be messy, it can be extremely profound and healing. At the beginning it might feel challenging as your brain will try to talk you out of it with various excuses but as long as you continue putting in the effort to breathe, you will get what you came for and SO MUCH MORE.

BENEFITS OF BREATHWORK

One of the things you should keep in mind is that breathwork is different for everybody. I’s also different every time you practice it, so the results and benefits vary each time.

1. Deep & Immediate stress release

Almost everyone experiences a huge stress relief immediately after doing this breathwork technique. This is what most people come looking for and it’s exactly what they get.

 2. Helps with depression and anxiety

Lao Tzu said “If you are depressed you are living in the past. f you are anxious you are living in the future". Breathwork puts you in the moment. Your mind is clear like never before.

 3. Increases self-esteem and confidence

A feelings that is far too common that you might think, is the feeling of not being enough. Feeling as though you are not ready, you are not worthy, you are just not that special breathwork has really helped me to become aware of the inner critic inside of myself and helped to grow my confidence. You can experience a powerful awakening to the truth of who you really are.

4. Releases trauma and fear

This is the reason why Maja contiuned doing breathwork after she “accidentally” started - ask her about this story when you meet her. During her first session, she released known AND unknown traumas that had been weighing her down for for years! It was a BIG eye opener and she was hooked.

5. Increases self-love

This is actually the biggest benefit of breathwork because when you start to have more self-love, everything in your entire life changes. Practicing breathwork and showing up for yourself by doing the uncomfortable work is true self-love.

There are many more benefits of breathwork and you will only discover them if you start doing it on a regular basis.
